What you missed - September 25 @ FORT SAND

On September 25, 2015 at Fort SAND we talked about Enoch and how he walked with God. We learned at Genesis 5:23-24 teaches us that walking with God takes faith.

If you missed Fort SAND this week, here are some activities to help you learn some of the truths that we learned this week.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

Day 1 - Read Genesis 5:23-24
These verses tell us that Enoch walked with God. Talk as a family about what you think that means. It means that every step he took and everything he did was done to glorify God. Deuteronomy 10:12 helps to explain the idea of walking with God.

Day 2 -  Read Psalm 1
Make list comparing someone who walks with God and
someone who walks in the counsel of the wicked.

Day 3 - Read Deuteronomy 6:6-8
These verses also talk about walking, but they remind us that when we walk along the road we should be talking about God and what He has done. Go on a ‘God walk’ as a family and notice things that God has made or done and praise Him for those things.

Day 4 - Read Hebrews 11:5-6
According to these verses, what does it take to please God? Look back at week one to remember what faith is.

Day 5 - Read Psalm 51
The Bible is clear that because of sin none of us can please God. Talk through this chapter and discuss how we can only be made righteous through Jesus.

Go on a Family Prayer Walk

As a reminder of how Enoch walked by faith, take your family on a prayer walk. As you walk around your house or neighborhood look for things that remind you to praise God (things in creation, your home, your family, friends) and for things that you can pray for (people who don’t know Jesus, people who are sick or hurt, etc.)

READ - The First Family

After Adam & Eve disobeyed God, God made them leave the garden. They made a new home outside of the garden. Soon, God gave Adam & Eve a baby boy named Cain. Then they had another son, Abel. Last week we talked about how Cain grew up to be a gardener and Abel grew up to be a shepherd.

Later, God gave Adam and Eve more children including a son named Seth. Seth and his family loved God and followed God and obeyed God more than all of his other brothers and sisters. God used Seth’s family to continue His 1st family.

When Seth grew up, he started having his own family and Adam & Eve became grandparents. Then Seth’s kids grew up and they became great grandparents. God’s first family was growing. God was build a people to worship Him.

Some of them built cities, some took care of animals, some were farmers and some played music. But the most important thing was that Seth was teaching his family about following God and trusting God and living like God wanted them to live.

Seth had a son named Enosh.
Enosh had a son named Kenan.
Kenan had a son named Mahalael.
Mahalael had a son named Jared.
Jared had a son named Enoch.

Enoch was Adam’s great-great-great-great-great grandson. The Bible says that Enoch loved and trusted God more than anyone else. Because Enoch followed God and walked with God, something really cool happened to Enoch. Enoch never died…when God was ready, Enoch went straight to heaven to be with God forever without ever getting old or dying.

Adam and Eve’s family, especially Seth’s family, reminds us that we should follow God and remember that God made us to worship and love Him.
